Williams Lea is a leading global business process outsourcing company specialising in the field of corporate information. Boasting an impressive client list, they work with many of the world's leading organisations in the banking, financial services, legal, professional services, pharmaceutical and corporate sectors. Core to the delivery of many of its services is its bespoke management information system. This application architecture was built around the Microsoft family with core reporting delivered using Business Objects.

In 2003 Williams Lea took the decision to outsource these services to Intandem. The contract had two key aspects. Firstly, to create a web-enabled version of the application which would improve business processes and deliver support efficiencies. Secondly, to design and manage an infrastructure to support the application, provide user training, manage the new hosted server farm and provide technical support including ongoing assistance with usage and functionality for the business users of the service.

A dedicated team with the right mix of technical skills was assembled by Intandem. Working with the Williams Lea IT team and the business users, the team implemented a new offsite web server farm and re-engineered the whole solution. Web-enablement allowed all the reporting to move onto the web via WebIntelligence, the flagship Business Objects online reporting tool. The re-engineered application was stress-tested prior to user acceptance testing. It went live to plan and is still supported by Intandem today.

The project has proved a great success. Not only was it delivered on time and under budget, but a noticeable improvement in performance speed was reported by the users of the application. The ongoing support aspects of the contract continue to run smoothly and Intandem has been awarded further work.
